When I started up this page, I intended only to archive all the old stuff about Jason Heckathorn from back in 2002 – 2003. I didn’t plan to start writing giant updates about the current happenings of Jason. But here I am, doing an update every day and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. Tons of thanks go Sudo, a long-time friend of the PLA and someone who’s been pouring an insane amount of time into looking up information on Jason, just because she’s as amused as I am with the whole thing. I’ve got so much to add to this page, but this update will only concentrate on Jason’s recent harassment of a bar…
Anyone who’s been following the story of Jason knows that this was all reawakened recently when Heywood bumped into Jason at a bar. It turns out that Jason has been a regular at this bar, called the Players Pub, for around a year now. A few weeks ago, Heywood gave me a link to Players Pub’s Facebook page because there was a picture of Jason on it, with the caption that he’d won tickets to a Blazers game. I commented on the picture, I think asking if he had a date for the game. Then the picture disappeared. Wait, no…the entire Facebook page disappeared. Why did this happen? Did Jason do something awful, just because I commented on a photograph of him? I had to find out, so I called the bar.
I asked the lady who answered the phone if Players Pub had a Facebook page. She told me they did, but it was down temporarily because “an issue with a customer who’s posting bad stuff on it.” I asked if it was Jaysen Johnson (Jason Heckathorn’s new name) and she reluctantly admitted that it was him. She told me that he was posting really inappropriate things about all the bartenders and that they were working on a way to stop him from doing that.
My assumption that Jason was harassing Players Pub because of my comment didn’t last long, because Sudo found Jason’s newest domain name and blog – playerspubsucks.com. The page was filled with rants about their service and personal attacks against the bartenders, which included their full names. He also posted prank calls to the bar and explained exactly why he hated everyone there.
The blog is completely ridiculous. It claims that he was 86′ed simply for complaining about their service. You know it’s not that simple, because we’re talking about Jason Heckathorn. I’m not going to analyze the entire blog, but trust me when I say it’s filled with all kinds of crazy. He claims that they’re making threatening phone calls to him, threatening him with legal action, bartenders are harassing him with text messages, and they’ve even got the Forest Grove police department harassing him. This guy just can’t stay out of trouble with the police.
His posts are seething with hatred, like when he writes, “Maybe I should go to [Kristina's] old bar, Tabb’s Sport’s Bar in Cornelius, OR and find out the truth as to why she was fired from there. From what I hear, her old boss doesn’t have anything good to say about her.” or when he freaks out about the local police department being lazy, writing, “I see you every day sitting on your fat fucking asses down at BJ’s Coffee Company in Forest Grove next to Player’s Pub choking down your scones and coffee.” And then there’s the part where he makes fun of the bartenders for being bartenders, since he is clearly a better person than them, writing, “No wonder these people are making pizza and waiting tables. To think that dumbass bartender Steve ***** at Player’s Pub and his whore of a friend Jessica *****, also a bartender at Player’s Pub to support her bastard child at home both say I need to laugh more. Well here you go. HA HA HA HA HA. How’s that for laughing? Morons!!!” What a drama queen.
It’s too bad you can’t read any of this stuff, because as soon as Jason noticed that I was reading his blog yesterday, he removed all of the posts from it. All of the posts except for the very first one, which only explains his version of why he was kicked out of the bar. Then he completely removed the blog from the net. Oh wait, did I say you couldn’t read this stuff anymore? That’s not true, because I copied the entire website since I knew he would erase it as soon as he found out I was reading it. Click here to read the website that Jason just erased!
Jason also set up a Twitter account, apparently for the sole purpose of bringing negative attention to Players Pub. His only two posts were links to his Players Pub blog and he had no followers. He was following Portland-area news Twitters, though, probably thinking that if he complained enough the news teams would rush out to his house and interview him about the how he was completely wronged by his favorite bar. Me and Sudo took bets on how long it would take for Jason to make his Twitter account private after I added him as a friend. Sudo won – it was less than an hour.
Sudo called up Players Pub and asked a guy there about Jaysen. He told us that Jason had asked out all the female bartenders and they had all turned him down. He also told us that his website had a post on it that talked about how he was suicidal a few nights ago and that the cops had come to bust down his door, but then that post disappeared after about a day. And he told us the bartenders are thinking about getting restraining orders against Jason.
Sudo then found the Facbook of one of the bartenders, thanks to Jason posting their full names on his blog. She asked the bartender about their problems with Jason and the bartender replied, “He started coming into the bar every single day during my shifts. For about a month I had to deal with him being there for my entire shift, just sitting there and talking about how he has no friends and people keep harassing online. He finally started making it obvious that he only liked me, and started being very rude to our other bartenders. We had a meeting at work and decided to give him a 30 day 86, so maybe he would get the hint that he was starting to creep us out. He then started posting very rude things about our other bartenders on our Fb site, so we tried blocking him, he responded by creating many other FB accounts and continuing to harass us via FB. He then created his blog and is now continuing to harass us through that.”
She also told us that Jason has been printing up FLYERS for playerspubsucks.com and has been posting them around town. How insane is that? Damn, Jason, just write them a negative Yelp review like a normal person and be done with it, you hypocrite. You spaz out when someone merely mentions your name online, but then you go and do essentially the exact same thing to these people as you’ve been saying we’ve done to you, posting these girls full names on a hate-filled blog and making prank calls to them. (Click here to read the rants of a man turned down for a date.)
I can’t believe Jason is saying he’s being harassed online. Our fun completely ended with Jason in 2003, and all that only happened because Jason was harassing Heywood and causing his website to be removed. If anyone is still harassing Jason today, it has nothing to do with me or Heywood. The only reason this “fan page” for Jason exists is because he recently tried to have my website taken down because it mentioned his name. Not even his current name of Jaysen Johnson, but his old name of Jason Heckathorn. Why does he even care if we talk about his old name? He’s not using it anymore. I don’t consider this website to be harassment of Jason. All I’m doing here is telling his story because it’s fascinating and hilarious.
Here’s some awesome advice, Jason – don’t rant to other people about how you’re harassed online. It makes you seem like a crazy person. People might pretend to be sympathetic, but they’re really just thinking you’re a weirdo, either for being harassed online (which isn’t even true) or for caring about being harassed online. Also, don’t sit in a bar and stare down the cute bartenders all day. In your blog, you wrote an lengthy paragraph about how everyone at the bar thinks of you as Norm from Cheers. They don’t. That’s just how you see yourself. Everyone else just sees you as the guy who rants about being harassed online while he stares at the bartenders all day. You will never be Norm from Cheers. Ever.
You know, I’m a social reject too. I rarely hang out in bars by myself because I would probably come across as being a creepy quiet guy too. That’s why I use online dating to meet girls, because I can make myself seem somewhat normal in online conversations to them before we finally meet. Try that. Or meetup.com! You live in one of the coolest cities in America. Quit squandering that and go out an enjoy it. There are probably 1,000 meetup groups in Portland on every interest you can possibly think of. Join a few of them. It’s a lot cheaper than sitting in a bar all day, giving $40 tips to bartenders in hopes that you’ll get a date from them.
You know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the service at Player’s Pub. You wouldn’t have been a regular there for a year if they had horrible service. They kicked you out because you were causing problems there and being creepy. This is your fault, not theirs. Quit acting like a victim and use their critism of you to improve yourself. When you start hanging out with meetup.com people, don’t rant about being harassed online. That’s weird.
To everyone else reading this – next time you’re in the Portland area, stop by that quaint little bar called Players Pub in Forest Grove. When you order a drink, tell them you saw the story of Jayson Johnson in this blog and ask them to tell you about his craziness. I bet they’ll have some fun stories for you.
